The COVID-19 pandemic has presented the greatest risk to our health in the last 100 years. Isolated, frightened and forced to reinvent our lives amidst global trauma, we continue to fight and make adjustments for safer practices that will help us move towards healing. This is how Safe with Art came to light. We are working with some of the worlds most celebrated artists to create a rotating gallery of limited edition personal safety gear that is beautiful, sustainable and meaningful. With a portion proceeds supporting the charitable initiatives of each artisits’ choice, Safe with Art acts as the conduit for the artists own voices to be heard and their vision seen walking through unprecedented historical moments. It is our hope that by incorporating art into the practices of staying safe we can find some beauty and inspiration, essential even in times of struggle. We hope to allow individual expression of style in the “new normal” and that together we can stay Safe with Art.
Safe with Art masks are made with recycled, sustainable fabric. They are washable and designed for repeated use. Since the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic, single use disposable masks and other single use PPE have begun to fill up our oceans and are often not disposed of properly. A recent report by the UCL revealed that if every person in the UK wore one single use face mask every day for a year ,it would create greater than 66,000 tonnes of contaminated plastic waste and ten times more climate change impact than using reusable masks. Use of reusable cloth masks is the environmentally friendly option
